Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a lumber framing takeoff?
+Our wood framing takeoffs include all dimensional lumber by size, species, and grade — wall studs, plates, headers, cripples, trimmers, rim joists, ceiling joists, rafters, blocking, and bridging. Sheathing (OSB or plywood) by thickness and area is included separately. Hardware and connectors are listed separately.
Do you take off structural steel?
+Yes. We takeoff all structural steel members — W-shapes, HSS, channels, angles, plates, and connection hardware — listed by section designation, size, weight, length, and total tonnage. Shop drawings and erection drawings are both accepted.
Can you take off cold-formed steel framing?
+Yes. CFS takeoffs include all studs, track, blocking, bridging channels, and clips by gauge, depth, and flange width. Load-bearing and non-load-bearing systems are tracked separately. We work from structural and architectural drawings.
How do you handle complex roof framing?
+We break down hip and valley rafters, jack rafters, ridge boards, and all common framing members individually. For engineered roof systems (trusses, joists), we count units and note the design loading and spacing for the supplier quote.
